Feature | Fall Guys has never been better with friends than it is now, and that's thanks to Squads
Mediatonic's party hit has come a long way in a year.
Do you remember your first Fall Guys win? For me, it was soon after launch. I'd been playing for a week, reached a few finals previously and Fall Mountain was up. Eight players were left, my three party members were out and crucially, I started at the back row. Not great odds, but once we began, the cannons became my new friends. A subsequent statement from Amazon insisted the beta was "safe to play", and that's now been corroborated by EVGA, after its investigation into the issue revealed hardware failures were the result of dodgy soldering.

Feature | If you have patience, Spelunker HD Deluxe is a weird treat
Anybody down there?
As I get older, my favourite kind of game is probably the inscrutable platformer you used to get on home computers back when I was a kid in the 1980s. Jet Set Willy. Gumshoe. Booty. The settings were often reduced to a spectral gantry propped against a plain black backdrop, the themes were obscure and presumably highly personal, and death was frequently cheap. But these games transported me further beyond the screen than any have since. Their mystery is palpable. They are magic.
