Feature | Teenage Blob is a rush of music and oddball challenges
EPs and games collide.
There is so much energy in Teenage Blob that even the on-screen text seems to shake and shudder and tremble. Why wouldn't it? This is such a weird and brilliant project - half EP, half mini-game collection. The Superweaks (a band) recorded six new songs. Team Lazerbeam (a development team) made six new games. Then everything got flung together in a sketchy celebration of punk and the brilliant/terrible lost years between 16 and 19. Rotten jobs. Gigs. Set lists. The energy of it!

Here's a brief gameplay peek at CD Projekt's new creature-hunting Witcher mobile game
Looks all wight.
Back in the halcyon days of, uh, last week, CD Projekt revealed it would be bringing the Witcher-y world of Geralt and friends to iOS and Android in the form of a free-to-play, augmented-reality "location-based RPG". What it didn't do, however, was show much in the way of gameplay, but the studio has now remedied that with a brisk new trailer.

Feature | Fortnite's new Tilted Taxis mode is an enjoyable Crazy Taxi clone
Gears of war.
Crazy Taxi is no stranger to clones. I will freely admit enjoying the rather shameless The Simpsons: Road Rage back in the day, and to spending countless hours crashing around Springfield in a hovercar as Professor Frink. Fortnite's new Tilted Taxis mode feels similar, familiar fare.

Red Dead Online's lobbies have mysteriously emptied - and it's solving the game's problems
Lasso is more.
Red Dead Online has been something of a roller coaster in recent months: after the community protested the lack of updates by wearing clown costumes, Rockstar pushed a major update to introduce legendary animals and the naturalist role, and players appeared to be relatively satisfied. The celebrations didn't last long, however, as a subsequent bug fix update brought a range of issues so severe that Rockstar had to roll back the entire patch.

Feature | Brilliantly tactile, Game of Thrones: Tale of Crows feels like a new genre of game-as-interface
Novel.
The setup is this: you're playing through the history of the Night's Watch, set thousands of years before the events of George R.R. Martin's books and HBO's TV show, around the era of Bran the Builder, original Papa Stark. First, you choose a character to be Lord Commander for a while - this changes, with new Commanders and new stories for them generated indefinitely - then you make a few decisions, you send a few people on some errands, and then you wait. Just chill out for a bit. Watch little symbols slowly burrow their way into the wild forests of the north and gaze at the lovely artwork or just go for a walk, read an article, do something else entirely.

It's that time of the year when developers start explaining their plans for the move to next-gen devices, and the latest to do so is Dead by Daylight - the asymmetrical horror survival multiplayer by Behaviour Interactive. Yet it seems players won't be getting any nasty shocks when it comes to cost, as current players will be able to access the game on next-gen consoles for free.

Ain't nothin' but a heartache.

Feature | Someone should make a game about: that weird house in St Moritz with an underground lake
Secret Lives...
The greatest horror series on television is Secret Lives of the Super Rich. It's a truly eldritch documentary show about the things that people with a lot of money inflict on themselves. Rich people, it suggests again and again, are odd. They don't just want a garage full of Lambos - it's always Lambos - they want a house in which the garage doubles as the dining room, where you can eat breakfast next to the parking turntable. They don't just want endless access to Patron, they want a specially modified motorbike that runs on Patron. They want to eat gold leaf on absolutely everything - even grilled cheese sandwiches. And when night comes they want to retire to a house lined with mink fur.

Digital Foundry | Hands-on with RTX 3080 - is this really Nvidia's biggest leap in gen-on-gen performance?
The early numbers are remarkable.
It's a time of change, of transition. With the arrival of the next generation consoles, the scale, scope and ambition of game developers will move onto the next level - and today, Nvidia revealed its new RTX 3000 line of graphics hardware, promising the biggest generational leap it's ever delivered, along with twice the ray tracing performance. This year, I've been privileged to have had exclusive access to next-gen architects and even hardware and I'm happy to say that I've also had early access to the new GeForce RTX 3080 - in fact, the card has been with me since late last week. So the question is, just how fast is it?
